Residential

Have you ever been in someone’s home, or in a particular place and felt like you suddenly had to leave and weren’t sure why?  You felt uncomfortable? Overwhelmed?  Agitated? You may have sensory sensitivities and not even realize it! Even if you don’t, personalized sensory design can still improve the feel and function of your home.

Perhaps you love the aesthetic of your home but find you’re anxious or can’t seem to de-compress as you would like?  Conversely, maybe you find you can’t concentrate, focus or be as productive as you intended?

You might think it’s your fault, or that you’re just too stressed or busy. In most circumstances, it’s not you at all. It’s your environment. Even though you may love the design of your space, it may not be serving your needs. People rarely realize, when designing the décor of a home, that sensory elements can have a significant impact on feel and functionality. Effective sensory design is paramount in making a home and the function of each space work for us. It can actually buoy us into the mental and emotional state desired in any given room.

It is almost always the color, lighting, scent, spatial organization and general acoustics that make the ultimate difference in how comfortable and productive we are in our surroundings.

“Lauren Henry has such a gift! When I first met her, I was skeptical that she could create a room my 9 year old son would be comfortable in, as he had been sleeping in his nanny’s room since he was 3 years old. Lauren worked closely with our family to find out what would make my son comfortable in his bedroom environment. The first night his bedroom was painted, my son slept in his room and every night since! I can’t thank Lauren enough for the impact she’s had on our family and specifically, in addressing the special needs of my son.”
